30 the last One

1) The napkin assignment assignment sticks out to me to most because I received a lot of feedback on it. I will never forget trying to pitch my straw idea to all my friends and family and repeating my pitch over and over until I got it down. My most enjoyable experiences were completing the assignments because it gave me motivation. I was really proud coming up with the straw idea.

2) I have always seen myself as an entrepreneur but this class tested my skills and knowledge which is what I really enjoyed. Some of the assignments gave me questions that I would have never thought of on my own, this class brought me one step closer to being a more intellectual human being.

3) I recommend any student wanting to go down this path to stay focused and determined to competing tasks. Nothing is will come and motivation is all we can have to allow us to progress in life. One must remain challenged and interested to pass this class, let alone the determination to logging on and completing each assignment on time.

29A

My name is Mickel Fadel and I am a student at the University of Florida. I am here today to discuss my venture concept: The Strawisk. The ban on plastic straws in Gainesville, Florida pondered in my mind until I envisioned my product. I as an entrepreneur wanted a change for the paper straws because I saw a market that can be tampered with without causing damage with my interference.  I became a potential costumer for the product I invented. After having a few conversations regarding the transition from plastic to paper straws, I noticed that other people also disliked this new product and there were many different reasons to hate the paper straws. Many people America use paper straws, in fact, one estimates 500 million straws are used in the united states every single day. Many businesses are suffering from this change because paper is 2 dollars more than plastic. There are many restaurant owners in Gainesville who have changed from plastic to paper and that is when my opportunity sparked. With this information, I designed a well-textured straw that will stimulate the need of the customers and it will allow them to enjoy my quality product. This opportunity has capability of reaching restaurants worldwide and with the right amount of laws put in place, it will create a higher volume supplying the world. Until restaurants owners remove the sale of beverages, straws will always have a need in the market and I can seize this opportunity by creating a better product for the same price. Every person in the world has at least eaten out one time or used a straw. Straws are not meant to be important but providing that extra cushion of comfort will allow straw users to enjoy their meal even better. My window of opportunity is every lasting and it is market that can be sold to every country in the world. Plastic is always the option for people and humans do not care what they are drinking out of, as long as it is easy to use and comfortable. My invention gives straws a better platform to users and I see this invention becoming an everlasting money machine.

My innovation is a paper straw with a twist. The Strawisk. My straw differs from other paper straws in the market because mine includes a glazed bees wax from the middle of paper straw all the way to the top of straw. This mechanism used will allow customers to to be satisfied when drinking out of the straw that I invented. The reason that my straw works better because original plastic straws rip in the middle but with my innovation we secure half of the straw allowing the straw to remain in water for a longer period without ripping apart. My straw is made out of biodegradable materials therefore it has a more positive effect on the environment than any other straw because wax is edible and is more likely to vanish faster than plastic or paper. Paper is much more expensive than plastic but due to this law passed, plastic will not be consumed by users therefore we must work with what we have got and nothing is wrong with a little twist to it from my end. Therefore, I decided to remove paper from the straw essentially saving more money than regular paper, because wax is cheaper than paper and as a user, I do want to decrease the cost for my merchants. I have decided to cut the paper in half and use wax for the other half reducing the cost of the straw, while also securing the straw. Depending on who I am dealing business with, is how my pricing will go because I refuse to sell thousands of straws to Costco and sell the same straws to local restaurants when they purchase 1/10th of that price. What I will make sure to do is remain my cost a little under the cost that they are receiving to make sure that both parties are satisfied with this process. The only way my business can start running efficiently is to make sure I am hitting my goals and I am meeting my needs. My goal is to target a market with a high demand using The Straw-Whisk and I want to satisfy my costumers, my users, and my retailers/wholesale departments. I would essentially sell a pack of 24 straws for under 2 dollars which is cheaper than any other straw company out right now. With the packaging, the shipping, the making of the straws, the handling, the taxes, I would still be profiting from selling the straws for that much in retail price on the shelves of Walmart or Costco. My restaurant and wholesale businesses would receive a cheaper price because they are purchasing more than a few hundred straws and therefore I would be willing to drop my prices to a penny per straw. That would make 100 straws equal a dollar. I would be making so many of these straws at such a low cost that I would double my margins if I sold one straw for a penny.

My innovation will allow consumers to be satisfied to using the paper straws without complaining or feeling unhappy about their product. I for sure have felt the need to throw away my paper straw out many times due to the discomfort of the sogginess texture received from the straw. Not only will costumers be delighted from using the unique straw, we would also be raising awareness regarding out marine lives since the law was passed for that reason. The reason to why costumers would switch to my product is because it will be forced on them just how plastic or paper was forced on them, and it will be very easy to switch because it is a better product than the paper or plastic product used before. Moreover, they will switch to my product because my competitors are not giving me much competition when indeed my straw is the better product. My glazed tip includes a comfort around the lips causing a unique satisfactory in the brain to prolong the sipping action. My competitors are using other products with different materials and their weaknesses are that my product is cheaper and natural. My product is natural and has an enormous amount of supplies without harming our planet. I am more likely to succeed than anyone pursuing this venture because I have my distribution on lock down, with a demand in Gainesville for me to take advantage of.  My secret sauce is that I am cheap to make, in fact I can make the wax myself and I do not need to use a third party. My next venture is to create a professional prototype by the end of the year, and I see myself creating a large demand in the United States as an entrepreneur. This venture allows me to grasp an idea on my future.

I did not receive much feedback from my classmates, but I did speak to experts and they recommended that I think about packaging and or make the straws more personalized when ordering. We have with certain straws, we have with certain cups, why should I not franchise my straw and give it its own platform? It sounds silly but it is a market. Based off of the feedback that I received, I will be creating a curve on the tip of the straw to allow the straw to feel "funny" giving it a unique form of identification.

1)  My exit strategy on my business plan is to essentially sell it in a few years because I do not see myself expanding on my paper straw. I do not see that potential growth because I have different plans to pursue my law degree and correlating straws with it is not a match. I intend on making a few million dollars out of my business to start different ventures to grow.

2) I have selected to sell my venture because I would need more values and resources in regards of my business to boom and I could sell my business to a person to create capital in my pocket. I could create another venture like my straw invention and essentially sell that idea or grow from that idea. The reason to why I have selected this route is because I want to grow my capital, basically different plans for life.

3) It indeed has influenced me to think about ideas as much as I can. For instance, if I think about a business idea in the future, I would just need to ask myself the same question these assignments have asked me because I have came up with many new ideas in regards of my project/venture without noticing that this information is out there and all I need to do is access this information or reach out to experts in regards of questions that you may have. I now am adequate to expand on my business plan when thinking about any venture because I am capable of asking the correct questions to further assist me in my future.

27A reading reflection

Cognitive Surplus, Clay Shirky

1) This book's argument is that because of the internet, we will essentially transform a new cultural shift into how we interact with each other, the things we think about, what matters to us the most, and what our humanity will value. This book argues that due to the internet, our social engagement will shift into new perspectives and the relationships between individuals is going to have different values and principles.

2) The book enhanced my experience in this class because it taught me a few valuable things in regards of free time and utilizing social engagement. This class has made me connect virtually with other class mates and comment on their posts. Reading their venture businesses has allowed me to connect with my peers and this book discusses the new way of socializing. Not that we have not had this form of communication for a very long time, but it is the sense of what we are used to when talking to people face to face will change.

3) I would speak on correlating our normal lives and how the media impacts our day to day activities. We could be a news Chanel or a social media and we would see cause and effect of what happens to us physically and emotionally if we are on these channels for long periods of times. This book tests the means of our personnel lives and showed me that there will always be an agenda put in place, we just have to connect to one another.

4) When I read about personal values in this class, it was the AHA moment for me because we can all interpret this in a different way. My personal values will be different than my brother or my classmate and that is why the theme of this book can be taken into many different other themes depending on our experiences. For example: I will try extra hard to have a real moment with people because I have experienced that in my life but with the shift to internet of things, the next generation might not understand that value. And then that value will be forgotten about therefore it does not matter. But to me, it is my whole life so that was interesting to read.

26A

1) As the current semester comes to an end, I have reflected on the past few months and I have failed many times. My biggest failure is not receiving an A in this course. This is my biggest failure of this semester because I will receive an A average in all my other courses and if I had completed one more assignment in this course, then I would have received that A I was wishing for. There was a few assignments I could not do due to life problems, but that is no excuse and now I am sitting here with that 89.3

2) I learned that I should not be as mad as much as I am because I did not put in my complete one hundred into this course to receive that A. I have work, other classes, family problems, bills, and things that distract me from being the best version of myself. I have learned that I can either get stuck on this and allow this issue to effect me or I move on and work harder.

3) I do not try to let failure faze me but depending on the situation, it can. I have always been the person to try new things, and take risks but failure is the reason to why I do not do such things. I am afraid of failing at the one thing I strive to do my best in school and receive a degree but there are many stops along the way that could possibility shut me down. For example, if I do not pass my bar exam, I would have to wait 6 months to try again and that is failure time lost to try again.

25A

In my next actions, I want to get my invention a prototype to showcase my straw. As long as I have an idea of what my prototype is going to look like, then I will go out to my 5 mile radius and begin selling to restaurants near me.

Interview number 1 recommended that I try to create a curve on my tip to create a even more unique texture. Interview number 1 recommended that I give out a few samples for free before I charge and I will go ahead with that idea to make sure the consumers are satisfied.

Interview number 2 recommended that I try to speak with other straw merchants and become their top priority. If I am benefiting many producers, other businesses might go out and I will remain with relationships from all across the world.  Interview number 2 recommended that customers might want to be able to bite down on the straw but this straw will not allow customer to do such because it is wax.

Interview number 3 recommended that I should think about weather my straws should come in a wrap or not. It did not think about this previously and I was happy to learn this from my interviewer. He recommends that the customers would want a clean sanitized straw rather than a straw that has minor dirt.

In terms of growing, I do see my business flourishing all throughout Gainesville since I saw how paper straws grew rapidly in Gainesville. My business could expand in a matter of months and depending on how well my demand gets, I could cover most of Florida in just a matter of months.
I want to essentially grow my business throughout America, and nationwide if the ban on plastic straws continues. I could create a market in America only, but that would mean I am limiting my expansion worldwide.

New market

I could essentially target people who use reusable straws. I could create my own reusable wax straw to bring in more straw lovers and take them away from their current straws such as bamboo, metal, etc. The way I could attract them is the difference in tip texture and how the curve around their lips would feel. I believe if I can master the art of texture around the lips off of the straw, then I could attract those customers around my product completing the transition from any other straw to my straw.

Targeting a new market will allow my business to have a momentum. Creating a momentum will steer the demand to increase because now even straw users would be curious to how my product feels like and they would just want to try it if anything. Attracting different types of markets will allow my business to expand.

With the different types of markets that I would be covering, I have interviewed two people in this matters. the First interview went pretty well and the best advice I got from him was that I needed to make the straw feel a little more personal. Nothing is wrong with creating designs or finishes to the straw to allow straw lovers to have their personal straw. My second interview recommended that the straws should include a hole that gives a good ratio of drink per sip and that is something I did not think about. It sounds a little complicated, but depending on the hole of the straw, is how the ratio is measured. I would need to create the flow to be good enough, not too much. \

In this new market I have learned that it is much deeper than going to a drive thru store and receiving a straw with your drink. Some of these people truly care about the environment just as much as I do and when they hear about my biodegradable materials used for this straw, it will attract them more towards my straw. I learned that allowing the validation in people to resemble through the straw will work and if I need to expand in my idea, I need to allow people's opinions to matter. This market is not as attractive as my first market because I am targeting people who drink out of straws everyday, but this market does give me new ideas and insights on what I should do next when targeting new audiences. What surprised me the most is that people really do throw away paper straws without even using them because they are very uncomfortable using them,  and some even go the extra mile to carry their own straw in purse or car for daily uses. I am not a person that will walk around with a straw, and therefore this is why I believe that my straw should be universal.

24A

My name is Mickel Fadel. I am a student at the University of Florida. I am here today to share with you my description of a concept for a new venture. The Straw-Whisk. I have found an opportunity here in Gainseville, Florida and I am seeking to seize this unmet need using my innovation and venture concept. Since Alachua County passed the ban on plastic straws, I as an entrepreneur became more aware of this potential venture concept and desired a change for the paper straws. Essentially, I became a potential customer with a need for a reformation of paper straws. After a few conversations the effect of paper straws, I became aware of this problem that Gainesville and other regions have suffered and that created a window of opportunity for myself. My Straw-Whisk is geographically stable and demographically has the potential to flourish due to the number of students and individuals who eat out in general. There are many restaurants in the world and receiving a well-textured straw will stimulate the need of the customers and will allow them to be loyal to the higher quality product with the “nice” straws. This opportunity has the capability of reaching worldwide with the right amount of laws put in place and it has a high-volume demand worldwide. Until restaurant owners remove the sale of beverages, straws will always have a need in the market and this window of opportunity is infinite worldwide. Every person in the world has at least eaten out or used a straw, and they did not care which kind of straw they got, if they received a straw with their beverage. Plastic is always the option and therefore if I can get my product out there just like plastic did, then I see my invention becoming everlasting money machine.

My Innovation is a paper straw with a twist. The Straw-Whisk. My straw is different than any other paper straw because it includes a glazed bees wax from the middle of the straw all the way to the tip in order for the costumer to feel satisfied drinking out of his/her beverage without the soggy texture. Some paper straws even rip apart, and with my glazed protection we secure the middle part of the straw allowing the straw to remain in water for a longer period without ripping apart. My straw is made out of biodegradable materials therefore it has a more positive environment risk than any other straw because if it ends up in the ocean, the wax is more likely to get eaten by fishes and the paper will dissolve in the water, unlike plastic. Paper is much more expensive than plastic but due to this law passed, paper will not be consumed by users and nothing is wrong with a little twist to it from my end. Therefore, I decided to remove paper from the straw essentially saving more money than regular paper, because wax is cheaper than paper and as a user, I do want to decrease the cost for my merchants. Therefore, I have decided to cut the paper in half and use wax for the other half reducing the cost of the straw, while also securing the straw.

Venture Capital.
My glazed tip includes a comfort around the lips causing a unique satisfactory in the brain to prolong the sipping action. 23A My Venture

A list of my resources with my straws...

Resources.

1) I have a hot market in Gainesville
2) I learned how to make Wax which is cheaper than purchasing it.
3) I have a storage to begin my process
4) I do not have capital, but I do have investors. If i pitch my idea well enough, I think I would have a shot to gain a few thousands to begin.
5) I am connected with a lot of restaurant owners.
6) I'm bringing in the cheapest straws on the market besides plastic straws
7) I can create a demand in the south region and create a flow worldwide
8) I have a few promoters on social media, not for straws but I could use that somehow
9) The way I would sell my straws would show Gainesville market that they would pay less for my straws and they are more comforting than paper.
10) Creating a law against the plastic straws would only assist my business to grow and that is all we need to happen worldwide. There needs to be a ban against plastic straws and then my business would flourish.

VRIN

1) This is rare because it is hard to get noticed in a city like Jacksonville, Florida but Gainesville Florida has that market to where if your business is good enough, then you will create a market that maneuvers from city to city.

2) I do not have to purchase wax to create the solution on my straw because it is a combination of a few materials and it is very cheap to make.

3) I have a mini lab storage that is big enough to produce a few thousand hundred straws for testing.

4) Investors from church, family and friends, etc. If I can pitch my idea well enough, I believe that one investor is willing to give me 20 to 30 thousand and I will show growth back in a few months.

5) I used to work at 4 different restaurants in Jacksonville and they would support me and purchase my straws instead of theirs. Other restaurants would adopt the idea and I could grow using that mechanism.

6) No other straw is cheaper than my straw, I am capable of creating the straw at the cheapest cost and I would essentially create a machine to assist me on creating it even cheaper.

7) Creating a demand in the south would help me create a demand in the north and creating a demand in the west would help me further my straws worldwide.

8) Creating a demand using social media is not hard for me because I am experienced in utilizing my social media. I can give a platform to my straws on social media and that would create a different demand for my business.

9)  Providing cheap cost to market guarantees purchases from businesses because it is always about receiving the most beneficial item for a cheaper cost and this is what I am providing.

10) I would need a law to create a demand for my business. Laws such as banning plastic straws world wide.

TOP RESOURCE

My top and best resource is being cheap and beneficial. It is most important because it hits a few home runs for users who are using them and users who are purchasing them.

2) A really great feedback I received this time was that the wax should go to half way of the straw because it rips in the middle and leaves a hole. If I can wax the paper straw halfway, then the straw would not rip apart in the middle.

3) I changed a few things about the pitch, as well as my project. I am going to put wax on the whole straw instead of just the tip to prevent straw from ripping. The pitch is almost recognized and i was more comfortable this time recording on the camera.

Book review for How to Fail at Almost Everything and Still Win Big, Scott Adams

1) The general theme of this book in my opinion, is that if you believe in your product, or yourself, or even your work ethic, then there should not be a reason for you to fail. Failing is not going to destroy your world, even if means that it is the only thing you have ever tried at succeeding. For example: My whole life I have been dreaming about becoming a lawyer, and as I got into my courses, I started having second thoughts about the only job that I've dreamed about. I failed a class my last semester and I wanted to give up because there was no reason to continue a major that I am failing. Does that mean I failed at being a lawyer? I researched a little bit more after the defeat to see other majors that would elect me into law school and I ended up failing at a major, but succeeded in a different major that is going to continue pushing my cause. This book had many themes in my opinion, but the biggest one that I took was that failing does not really mean failing, it just means that you have to think outside of your box.

2) I chose this book because of it's title. I have learned many things from this class, but one topic that has really gave me confidence in this course is that no matter what you are, or who you are, we can all be innovators. This book proved that point to me because what you want and what you need can be different sometimes. Scott's mini projects were a "waste of time" until one of the mini projects gained equity for him and it was not a waste of talent anymore. Same goes for me, I can be a student, and have full time work, and be involved with my family, but it does not mean I cannot be involved in mini projects to enhance my knowledge/opportunities.

3) The ability to change your mind. As I meet more people, and engage in more conversations, I feel like many individuals around me have a hard time changing their believes because they are comfortable in what they believe in whether it is true or not. If there is an activity where it shows facts, or even implementing the ability to change your views/mind then I would recommend it because I find it very helpful for me to be able to accommodate in the situation.

4) In the text, a phrase stood out to me which states if your view on the world is that people are going to use reasoning for their decisions, then I am lying to myself basically because different people value different things. While that was not surprising to me, it was surprising to read those words because this was something that I do not pay attention to often. In general, I do know that we live in a world where my good intentions will not mean that the person that I am dealing with has the same good intentions. The book gave me the 'aha' because it was startling to read how your good intentions or good problem solving is not being reciprocated from your business partner/ bosses above you and it just gave me a better insight on no matter what you do, if a person has an agenda in their head, they are going to make it happen whether you like it or not.

19A- Napkin Idea 2

My product is a paper straw whisk that

*My name is Mickel Fadel and I am an entrepreneur. I work at a law form and I DJ several nights throughuot the weeks  bu of , but I can only allow my actions to speak for myself. I was sixteen when I graduated high school and I am nineteen years old in my junior year at the best University in the State. I moved from Lebanon 10 years ago and learned how to speak English here in the United States. My aspirations are to continue moving up the ladder and make a change in this world.

*Strawisk is a paper straw that has a waxed tip and it offers a better experience to the user of the straw. Here in Gainesville, many young students dine out and due to the law passed on plastic straws, we have changed to paper and it gets soggy after a while of using the paper straw. With my invention, the glazed tip keeps the tip strong enough to continue drinking without tasting that texture.

*I am offering my services to all of the businesses in Gainesville whom consume the use of the straw and wholesale departments where they distribute straws.

* Customers will buy my idea because when they try my straw, they will feel the comfort of sipping from my straw than the paper straw given out everywhere currently.

* Part of my straw is Biodegradable and it can be eaten by fishes in the water. If we are going to change to paper which is what we have already done, we can add a little tone to it to have better fashioned straw because it is desirable

I do not think anything is disjointed in here because we have an individual who is willing to make a change in the world with a plan to change parts of the world to create a healthier environment. All of these aspects are connected because of where the individual lives, what the demand are in the city, and how desirable is your product?

The feedback that I received was very helpful because I could essentially reach out to local business within my 5 mile radius and make business happen. I was happy to read in the comment section about how my paper straw idea has potential and that I could create a business out of this. I could study other materials that is cheaper than paper straws and sell those to businesses in Gainesville and it is profitable because it is a win win for both parties. My product has potential and I use a straw almost everyday so why not save the earth doing it?

2) I did not get any feedback from anyone because I never posted my pitch.

3) from the interviews, I was advised to alter the meaning of my straws. I was previously stating that with my invention, we would remove harm to our marine life when in reality, we are just reducing the harm. There are still many plastic items being created and if we do not create a new material that is sustainable, and not harmful to our planet then we would remain declining.

18A create a customer Avatar

This is Rachel. Rachel is 38, she lives in Palm Coast, Florida. Rachel is a paralegal at a personal injury law firm and she is an asset to her company because she settles many cases. Rachel makes sure to order her Starbucks coffee every morning before getting to her office. She makes sure to have her own straw because she knows that recently the local Starbucks has been serving paper straws. Rachel gets in her Mercedes coupe every single day, after dropping off the kids at school to make sure she is on time every single day. She has to make sure she is taking the correct steps to excel her day.

Me and my avatar are both living a crazy life trying to make sure the little things come along together. Rachel has to worry about her kids, and her job, and her life but she makes sure to receive a plastic or a medal straw because she knows that if she receives a plastic straw, she is already setting herself up for failure. This is why I relate to Rachel because I also make sure that my straw is not plastic, or I am not wasting an extra bag at the grocery stores even though I have a thousand other problems to worry about. It is not a coincidence because my straw is being nit picky but we make sure to get it correct the first time because we have already dealt with the terrible alternative and us users dislike it.

16A what is your secret sauce?

5 things that make me unique

I would say that I speak three languages, I can play instruments and sing at the same time, good persuader and manipulator with people, graduated high school when I was 16, I can record and produce music

Emily and I used to date long time ago and she spoke about the little things about me to make the bigger picture unique. Emily stated my skills and emotions and she shared a few stories in regards of how I am creating a change or am different than others.

Mariane and I are siblings and she spoke about how I deal with people and how I operate in the real world with others. I tend to care about how people feel and I want to make the people around me happy to be alive and to be able to experience these thoughts.

Danny and I are really good friends and she talks about how I create a spiritual energy around me and people can feel that. Danny states that I care about how I portray myself and she feels that I am always prospering for the better.

Alex states that he enjoys spending quality time with me. he does like when I notice things that do not matter to me or act based on facts rather than feelings. Alex states that he feels comfortable with me and that no other person in his life can make him feel the way he does with me. Alex said that he really enjoys my company because I do not judge him and I want what is best.

Asad says I am dedicated to move on in life and I am willing to learn. If i do not do my own research, I am always trying to open up on conversations and ideas and I am wanting the best for myself. Asad says that I am a happy old soul and that I will continue to reach for my goals until they are achieved.

I see myself as someone who is willing to change. I always want to expand and grow by creating energy and flows within myself. I am always pushing for the top and if I do not get it in life, then I will never get it because I will never receive a handout. Some of the causes to why I am who I am is because I grew up very quickly and I did not fully get to experience being a child. I came to america and I had to learn English and teach my parents the language and I have always been doing adult activities to achieve a better life and essentially that is the theme to my life. I would not make a correction to my list because if my friends honest opinion on me is that, then by all means. I try to be adequate and sincere to my peers and I am glad that my friends can notice it.

15A Figuring out buyer behavior

3 interviews

Emily
Phyllis
Alyssa

3) When Emily goes an buys anything from anywhere, she prefers quality over anything. She does understand that price and quality correlates together, she prefers to get quality over quantity any day. Emily cares about the price as well but if she feels like she is receiving a good deal, then she is happy with what she spent for the quality item that she got.

4) Emily likes to shop online mostly, because she does not like big crowds and she feels like it is more effective shopping online wasting less time. Emily says it depends on her item and what she is purchasing but she would rather get her clothing online because she gets to pick her size, she hates the lines and she does not want to search for one item. Emily would not rather shuffle through the racks and stop to look at random items but online she can look up one attribute and search within her results. Emily likes to have a card for sure, because she does not have to keep track of her green bills. Emily looks up reviews on her items before purchase to see if it is worth her money.

5) Emily is effected most to see if the item was put to good use or spent a quite amount of time. Depending on what Emily buys, if her purchase comes in handy or is being used effectively throughout her life.

6)I feel like there is a lot of people in the world like Emily who enjoys security over want. She likes to make sure that her purchase was effective and in some ways, I react towards certain items the same way as she does. It is important to stay rational and have good decisions when purchasing any item especially, useful items.

7)You would need to make a product that is inviting to people and that makes them have a feeling toward like happiness or excitement because your item just has to be good enough for enough people to purchase it then it gets recognized by bigger companies.

Phyllis

3) Phyllis feels like price matters the most because the highest priced item is typically the best. Phyllis feels if the package is well wrapped, it usually means it is a good buy with credentials.

4) Phyllis is more likely to go inside of a store and make a purchase. Online is a hit or miss, and you do not always receive what you originally had ordered.  Phyllis one time bought a shirt from amazon and when she received the item, it did not fit her according the sizes displayed and she had a hard time returning the item and since then she has given up on online purchases. Phyllis still uses online purchases but it is for items that it is not near by or not made near by. Phyllis likes to use card more because she can keep track of her purchases rather than freely spending her money.

5)Phyllis feels like when she uses her item more than one time, then she is satisfied with whatever item she has purchased. Phyllis likes to be economical and she does not like to purchase the same item more than once, so she makes sure to keep track of her lip bomb because she needs to use it and she does not throw it away or get it lost. Being the tedious person she is, she values the item more when there is multiple uses.

6) Phyllis and I are similar when it comes to in store shopping. The most popular online shopping platforms are enigmatic, and they can be very deceiving. This is why Phyllis enjoys her in store shopping because she values what she is buying more and she does not run into issues when wanting to return item.

Alyssa

3) Alyssa perceives herself to be a very inexpensive shopper. Typically, she spends roughly around a hundred dollars every few months because she knows where to look for her items and when to purchase her items. Alyssa does prefer quantity over quality because she has a backup in case her plan fails.

4) Alyssa does most of her purchases in store so she can differ between the price and the amount of the products that she is getting. Alyssa states that when she does her online shopping, it is for items that she cannot bargain in store and she can get them in bulk online and so she does do her shopping from in store and online but does prefer in store more often. Alyssa refrains from using cash because there is always a digital receipt when it comes to using your card and worst comes to worst, you can always dispute a charge if you did not make that purchase.

5) Alyssa knows she made a good purchase whenever her peers draw attention to the item. When Alyssa receives a compliment or a comment on the item that she purchased, is when she knows that the item is noticeable and presentable.

6) Alyssa was very interesting to interview because she gave me new insights on the different routes of shopping. All supply and demand originates from feelings and past experience and therefore if your time can allow the buyer to feel some type of way, then the buyer would be influenced to make that purchase resulting in your product to gain popularity.

7) In conclusion, creating a feeling for people to feel is what influences people to buy your product. In my invention, I would like to create  momentum by allowing people to genuinely feel endorsed after purchasing my product and with that being said, my product is only set up for success due to quality and word of mouth from users.

13A reading reflection

To Be Loved: The Music, the Magic, the Memories of Motown- Berry Gordy

1) What surprised me the most? What surprised me the most is that Berry gave up a few million dollars not selling his company because he could not give up his company. His company was not even succeeding and he was promised more money than the company has ever made.

What did I admire the most? Berry Gordy starts the book by thanking every single member that shaped the book that he has created and I admire his real feelings that he produces in the beginning of the text because it shows that he is not just a writer that wants to push an agenda on us, he is a human like me and he specifically states that he is a human being like us with just a story to share.

Least Admire? The author only had talent to provide and did not understand how to manage his company like a business man. Berry had talent but he could not compete with the million dollar companies that were established with wealth and popularity and they were capable of doing 20 times more the amount Berry could and he did not realize that until he regained CEO of his company so it just shows me the compulsive decisions the author did throughout his journey.

The entrepreneur did fail and felt wakened when he realized what he had done and essentially he decided to adopt upcoming artists that he believed in and If i was Berry writing about my accomplishments, I would have spoke in a egoistic manner but the way Berry writes about himself allowing other artist to grow was such a beautiful transition from his failure and essentially he won more gaining fame and introducing underground artists through his platform is why he succeeded so well because he create a pathway to upcoming artists, and did not center himself.

2) The entrepreneur was able to expand his platform to focus on other artists. He understood how other companies were using their social media abilities to push their music on to listeners and so Berry had to create the same idea using his own inventions and machines to allow music lovers to listen to his music worldwide.

3) One confusing part was when Berry started ripping off his artists. I mean I do understand that the reasons to his finessing of artists but the fame and money were not going to suffice the hostility that he created between Motown and his signed artists. I was also confused on how smart Berry was because since young, he has always been on a different wave than everyone else around him, he questions his parents and his friends, he understood at a young age what creating means and that confuses me because when I was younger, I did not have the ability or desire to work on myself like Berry did and so it makes me reflect on my own life as to how I can better myself and work harder for the goals that i am trying to achieve.

4) 1- Would you have sold your company the first time?
2- Do you think Motown could have been done without the aid received from the supporters?

I know that in the text, Berry was devastated at one point and could not imagine to why he rejected the deal that would have changed his life but he decided to work harder because he trusted his long term vision which is pretty scary to me. In today's world, I try to take anything that is guaranteed to me because it is safe and it does not screw me over at the end of the day but the book shows exact examples of risk taking and to what that can lead you to.

5) Hard work was beating the odds of creating something from nothing and if you care enough about anything, then nothing is going to stop you from completing that task. I believe in my own thoughts that nothing amazing in life is going to come easily, but luck does exist in this world and if you are in the correct places and the correct times with enough credibility and effort, then you will be destined to do great things in this world.

14A Halfway reflection

1) I have set up a timer for every Tuesday and Thursday night to remember that I need to do my homework for this class. Every Monday and Wednesday we have or lectures and therefore I make sure I finish my assignments after I watch the lectures and I have an alarm to keep me on track in case I do not get to it by a adequate time.

2) I have missed an assignment before and it made me create my alarms because I forgot to complete the assignment before the time even though I had it in mind, I just needed to create it. I created the alarm so I could never procrastinate because it is very easy to forget to declare an assignment or to forget to review someone's post and it can get your points down. There has not been a moment to where I have wanted to give up, but creating the video was unsuccessful for me and that was frustrating.   I have always had this anxiety creeping up on me if I do not complete an assignment and this class intensifies my anxiety to make sure everything is completed on time.

3) I would recommend for any student who is taking this class to always check your canvas and email two to three times a day, make sure you use the calendar or your phone alarm to stay on top of your assignments, and always engage and create new experiences to expand your knowledge on entrepreneurship and be open minded to ideas because one day it will come to you.

12A Byers behavior

1) My segment is straw users worldwide, from restaurateurs to wholesale companies.

2) Simone Devane, Whitney Landsfor, Kim Gebhardt

3) Simone experiences this issue when she goes out to eat, the paper straws gets soggy but she does understand why it is being replaced from plastic straws. She says she need to deal with it but hates the soggy texture. Simone just deals with the issue and considering buying medal straw and keeping it in purse.

* Kim went to McDonald the other day to get a milkshake and Kim was upset and could not enjoy the milkshake because of the paper straw. Paper straws break apart in mouth and she would rather drink straight out of the cup. Kim was forced to use the straw even after complaining about it the whole milkshake, and she feels like the paper straw gets stuck to her lips. She would rather not use any straw rather than the paper straw and it made her McDonald experience, worse. Kim was upset that her cup was plastic, her top is plastic, but the paper straw is not the big fish. The paper straw does not serve the point, because the liquid is dissolving inside of the cup.

* Whitney states that she eats out twice a week and she almost never uses the paper straw. In fact, Whitney says she has a plastic straw inside of her purse just in case she needed to use it because she says the paper straw is gross and soggy. She experiences the issue twice a week and if she does not have her plastic straw handy, she throws away the straw given to her and the plastic lid provided with the cup just so she does not taste the paper straw.

4) All of my interviewers never use the straw, some claim to throw it away and waste the product itself. They either grab a straw of their own, or remove the lid and drink out of the cup straight.

5) What I learned in my interviews is that not only do the consumers hate the straw, but they are actually throwing away the straw wasting energy from the time it was made till it was thrown out. When our community wanted to end the plastic straws, they did not care about consumers opinion on the paper straws and now we are losing money rather than saving it.

6) Not only do I need to professionally design my invention, I need to start creating it soon to end the waste of straws that are never used. Clearly, there is not an improvement from the plastic straws and more plastic is being produced so not only do we need to recreate the straw, but also recreate the material plastic to make it less harmful to out environment and if that means putting an end to plastic forever, then I am for it.

11A Idea Napkin

The elements do fit together. I have a product that many users can benefit from worldwide, and it could potentially help us remove plastic straws from our marine lives. If we invest in my straws and make it a law to only use paper straws, then we would not have any plastic straws being produced and my paper straw idea will flourish because it will be favored more than the regular paper straw.

9A- Testing the Hypothesis Part2

Who: Illegal immigrants fall out most of the times.
What: If it is a life or death situation in your country and it is mandatory to evacuate.
Why? In Mexico, citizens are forced to evacuate to not be a part of the drug lords, or live in poverty and they come to the United states to live.

Interview #1: Sophia on her parents coming to the United States
What? Her parents legally came to the United States and overstayed her visa.
Why? Her parents felt the need to stay here rather than go back to their own country to stay with family members.

Interview #2: Abdallah on coming to the United States
What? He moved to America 30 years ago. Abdallah is 59 so he moved to the United states when he  was roughly 20 years old. His parents applied 20 years in advance to come to the United States. Abdallah and his family paid for sponsors in the United States to process their application quicker.
Why? Abdallah and his family felt the rush to leave Syria because they did not feel safe at the time when Israel was attacking Lebanon. He made sure to pay enough money to come to the States legally to survive.

Interview #3: Antoinette on being an immigrant
What? Antoinette came to America to have a better life, and she did not know how to speak English. Antoinette could not land a job and started using welfare from the government because the government offers that to you.
Why? Antoinette could not speak English, and she could not find an employer to hire her. Antoinette heard about the welfare options the government offered and she applied and got them.

Interview #4: Jose on coming to America.
What? Jose works at a Mexican restaurant and he told me he wanted to come to America to be able to work. In his country, they could not find a job and he was in poverty and decided to cross the border illegally to survive.
Why? His country is failing him and America shares a border with Mexico and therefore why not cross the border? Jose just wants to work, make money, live with his family and survive. In mexico, he could not find that security and that is why he illegally came to America and now is self employed through his family's business restaurant.

Interview #5: Amanda on being an American in Miami
What? Amanda falls out because she is an American that lives in America but lives in a Spanish community. Miami is in America but in her school and community, everyone speaks Spanish. She now attends the University of Florida and she still speaks Spanish and English, but she finds it hard to constantly speak English because the community is not Spanish anymore.
Why? Amanda is used to being in her Spanish culture, but now when she is using her native language which is America because she is American, she is struggling. That is not necessarily a fall out, but the cult is what I am bringing up and it basically removes you from reality which is speaking English.

Inside the boundaryOutside the boundary
Who is In: CitizensWho is Not: the rest of the world
What the Need Is: coming to americaWhat the Need Is Not: not coming to america
Why the Need Exists: America is number one country in the world

Summarize: Just like my hypothesis in the beginning of this assignment, there will always be many reason to why immigrants choose America over any other country but the reasons do not matter, because based off of statistics, America brings in over half a million of immigrants a year and that number is growing. I completely understand the limitation of familial-based immigration to be lowered or merit-based immigration to be higher. Point is, America is the number one country in the world and when you are surrounded by Mexico, there is always going to be conflict because of evil and good.

Alternative Explanations: Immigrants want to move to America to live a sustainable life.

Solving the Problem

* Paper straws is an alternative of plastic straws in order to maintain a healthy environment to protect our marine life.

Problem: Paper straws get soggy after a few minutes of sipping on any drink, and they have a weird after taste to them and therefore people miss the plastic straws. Especially when everything else is
made out of plastic, what is wrong with paper plates? paper napkins? paper cups? paper lids?

Solution:

Create a straw out of bees wax and or paraffin wax. Remove any paper/plastic within the straw and the straw would be completely biodegradable. Therefore, if the straw or wax basically every gets in the water, it melts down.

Testing the Hypothesis

Immigrants are motivated to migrate to the United States of America to improve living conditions, receive better wages and to create a future for their families.

The who: Immigrants
The what: migration to the United states
The why: improve living conditions, receive better wages and to create a future for their families.

Testing hypothesis: Any person in the world who wants to live in America has this need
The what: All migration to America has boundaries, many people come here legally and overstay their visas, many come here illegally and stay unknown. Many want better lifestyles, stay with families who are already here, want better education, want better wages, many other reasons
The why: Donald trump gets blamed, the government gets blamed, the illegal immigrants get blamed, the American citizens get blamed, anyone who is in and outside of the United states can get blamed based off of the perspective you are coming in with. Over 4 million Mexicans will blame Mexico for the migration. Many American citizens blame the security of America, and or blame the political parties for the migration.

Interview number 1
Who: Whitney about immigrants?
What: Immigrants are not the problem. The problem is that the citizens in America are a melting pot and every immigrant in the world would love to come to America and live here.
Why: government assistance. America is the number one country for some of these people and they hear how well off they could live just by being in here,

Interview number 2
Who: Edgar about immigrants?
What: Edgar had a mom that came to the united states illegally to seek for medical help. She came over in a boat to seek medical attention here in America for free and now lives in America without any papers.
Why: To get the help needed. In Mexico, she could not afford her procedure and here in America they cannot deny you even if you were a criminal and therefore she received the procedure for free because there was no one to bill with no address.

Interview number 3
Who? Ghada about Immigrants?
What? Ghada moved from Lebanon to America to secure her kids future. Ghada expressed her feelings about peace and how America can provide you with that and that is the reason why she moved here, and she feels like it is the safest here in America.
Why? Lebanon was probably not as safe of course; they could not have health insurance and if so it was probably expensive. They went to war in 06 and currently the living conditions in Lebanon are terrifying and therefore her reason is for safety.

Interview number 4
Who? Alex on immigrants
What? Alex moved from Venezuela to America to get involved in the school system and be involved in politics in order to have a degree in foreign policies and he wants to represent the United States in relations with other developed nations.
Why? Alex feels like in America you can have the opportunity to do whatever you want in life and harder work rewards you in this country and he feels like Venezuela was not the case and he would not get any further than high school education over there.

Interview 5
Who? George on immigrants
What? George came to America to practice his religion in peace. George came to America to go to Hollywood and live the American dream. George stated that he can secure his beliefs in the system here without second doubting the abuse of power. By that he means the government is not a total chaos like in other countries and he wants to live how an American life.
Why? Americans are number one in the sense of freedom, being able to survive and put in hard work, there is jobs and benefits here. America has public schools, it has California and Florida, America is an English country with values behind it. Our laws make up our country and the whole world would love to come into America any way possible.

My conclusion on this hypothesis is that there are too many reasons to why the rest of the world wants to come to America and it is the simple fact that America provides major aspects of lifestyles that other countries can’t guarantee and in America, you are allowed to be whoever you desire. From security, to better lifestyle, to education, America is a valuable country with many resources and the way America portraits itself to the rest of the world is superior and maybe the curiosity of what America really is get to foreigners but living in America is undeniably a very safe environment and families from all over the world  would pay money if possible to guarantee it. In all honesty, I did not know that foreigners throughout the world know about the benefits that Americans offer to their citizens and if you come to America just to live a lazy life and not work to receive support from the government, then you should be kicked out of this country for not contributing to society.

Practicing Opportunity Identification, Cont.

1) * Amazon stock went up by 7%
    * Tesla Stock is soaring
    * Age limit for tobacco product in the US
    * Paper Straws

2) A) Amazon stock going up is found on any source but I found mine on stocks from my phone.
    B) An opportunity exists because anyone who has an amazon stock just got richer and the brand its self is going to gain more popularity because more news sources are covering this topic.
   C) Investors and the inventor are both profiting off of this. CEO Jeff Bezos gained a few billion dollars because he owns 51% of the shares and anyone who has a stock in Amazon such as employees, regular stock holders, will benefit from this.
   D) The opportunity is getting harder because now it costs more money to buy the same stock that was worth 1700, which goes for 2000 now. But it is easier for the people who already have the stock.

 A) Tesla is only growing from today, and since the last few months, they've seen a 300% growth to their company.
B) An opportunity exists because money is involved. Tesla is only gaining more success and achieving higher numbers every year and that is growth for the people whom are interested in Tesla, and or the creators of Tesla.
C) The customer of this opportunity is anyone who drives a car, anyone who has a Tesla stock, the inventors of Tesla, the brand, the companies around Tesla etc.
D) The opportunity is getting easier because Tesla wants everyone in on it, they are producing vehicles that are cheaper than their budget to have the brand Tesla more visible to the world. If you are smart, and you know what you are doing then it is easy but if you are just wanting to go in without any money or information, then the opportunity is hard to exploit.

A) Age limit for tobacco has been regulated throughout all of the US and you now have to be over the age of 21 to purchase any tobacco products.
B) An opportunity exists because we have smokers more than every now, and anyone who is in between the age of 18-21 that smokes now cannot purchase any products which leads to a market.
C) The customers to be honest are the companies producing these vapes to sell them to teens, anyone who smokes, and they are the ones who suffer the most.
D) The opportunity is hard because it is illegal to sell to "minors" since it was a federal law and not a state law.

A) Paper straws are in every restaurant.
B) An opportunity exists because the customers are unhappy with the alternative and there has to be a different material or a different straw that we can use that is similar to plastic but does not harm the earth.
C) The customer in this opportunity is the consumer, every person who eats out is being effected by this and therefore it makes the general population the customer.
D) The opportunity is hard and easy. It is hard because you now have to get the straws to be FDA approved in order to serve them, but it needs to be cheaper than paper and plastic straws. It is easy because entrepreneurs are everywhere in this world and someone will come up with an idea to solve this issue, it has not been solved yet, in Gainesville atleast.

3) A) I am personally into stocks, and if i had one stock with amazon before they spiked up then I would be rich. A lot of people are not into stocks and if so, they do not have the money to put in because they have bills and a life to live, therefore it is hard to invest.

  B) I know many people who drive Tesla and many people have stocks in Tesla and they see the insane amount of technology that is going on behind their vehicles. I see this opportunity because not everyone can afford the Tesla, and if so they do not understand enough about it to make money off of it.

C) Many people do see the opportunity here but they do not know how to get around the age restriction because it is a federal law. Smoke shops are already trying to get rid of the vapes that teens would buy because their older customers want something different. I see it because I now cannot buy any products because I am not 21.

D) Many people see the Paper straw opportunity but they have yet to find a material that can be approved and be put in restaurants. I myself tried to come up with a new idea for straws, and I used wax on paper straw in order for the tip to be glazed and not get soggy. I see the opportunity because it effects me because I am the one that rejects the paper straws.

What? Bullying
Who? Refugees coming to America
What? Refugees coming to america get bullied because they are not american.
When? throughout their lives until they fix their differences
How? Insecurity

Bullying is an opportunity for insecure people to make other people feel insecure for personal reasons.
Bullying has always been around since school began. There are a lot of people who experience bullying. Students, Teachers, businesses, communities, specific beliefs, different ideologies, anything that can be a target for judgment can be bullied. In my opinion, the need came from psychology to where human beings want to feel good, putting down others will give them a boost in their own life. We as humans now are creating programs and prohibiting such acts, we provide counseling and support groups to avoid anyone from getting bullied. Bullying has never gone away and it will never be completely gone because we as humans will remain humans with opinions.

First interviewers = Mark.

Mark is a 13 year old in middle school and I got to interview him for bullying. Mark has experienced bullying the first two years of middle school and I was expecting with my interview to hear similar ideas to what my experience with bullying was. Mark got made fun of for various different reasons but the main big reason is because he was fat. Mark was not overweight, but he was not skinny and he told me every time him and his friends play basketball, he gets made fun of, gets shoved harder than other kids, gets challenged the most etc. and I wanted to ask mark simple questions because he was a younger teen. Mark told me the reason he got bullied was because he did not fit in. He was from Syria and every time he explained that, the other kids would not understand and he would get made fun of. I told him what was it exactly and he told me it was the fact that he was not from America. When did it start happening? After he became more social around school experiencing the different types of people at his school, he essentially had to get down with a certain group and be cool with them but they were still giving him a hard time. How were they bullying him? they would throw paper at him, not allow him to play sometimes, gets called names, last year he told me he got into a fight because of what happened and therefore so far I exactly believed my beliefs about bullying because I personally have experienced it first hand myself. I was not surprised to see this but I still wanted to interview the person to make sure if new things are happening, or if the motive for bullying has changed. Mark had to change his group of friends, start dressing different, and he is trying to move on and not allow any bullying around him and that is why he was okay to talk to me about this.

Second interview = Layalina Restaurant

I used to work at a lounge 3 years ago and I wanted to understand the bullying in the business side of aspect as presented during lecture. I went to my previous employer and sat down for 10 minutes to ask certain questions about the restaurant and if they get bullied. The restaurant has been opened for 6 years and every year they have seen a decrease in sales due to the fact that other restaurants are located all around them. This was a family owned business, and they served Mediterranean food.
I asked the business why they were dropping in sales and in other words their answer was there is competition around them and therefore they were not making as much as they could. I continued asking them who? They told me other restaurants around them kept popping up throughout the years and their business declined which could essentially take them out of business. What was happening is that every year more restaurants around the shopping area came around and new people were not entering the establishment. It has been happening for the past four years and their advertisement was not as strong as the other branched restaurants around them and therefore their business is slowing down. I asked the restaurant if there was anything that they could do and they could either advertise outside of their area or relocate which was not an option. And I took all of that information and looked at how the business was being chewed out because of the location, the service, etc. So not only bullying happens throughout day to day interactions, it happens to small business that are trying to make a living. And then I thought about how two different gas stations are located next to each other but there is always the one with 1 penny cheaper and so now I understand the different tactics businesses use to bully their competitor. Of course this business is getting bullied because not everything is the same and we need to have competition to drive the people to be more creative, but this type of bullying is upsetting to me because it is effecting a community. This method of bullying is causing a whole restaurant to shut down and that is the effect. I am not surprised because I do live in modern world, but it is upsetting. The restaurant has to expand their knowledge on advertising, expand their dishes options, serve out deals and promo codes to attract new customers.

Third interview = my mom

I wanted to interview my mom because for starters I could not get anyone else to agree to my interview, and second my mom had a different take on bullying and I wanted to interview her. My mom was a nun before she got married and she told me that while she was a nun serving the lord, she would get bullied in her sister life hood due to many different reasons. This is the first time I speak on this story but I wanted to get to a certain point with this story to where it validates my point. My mom got bullied when she was 17 because she was Lebanese. She was treated poorly she states, she would have to do more work than any other nun, she would receive less food and the reason my mom agreed to doing it all was to get away from home where she also got bullied at home. The reason for bullying in this story is not complying to insane orders such as clean the whole building or cook for the whole family. It mostly happened to my mom when she was growing up but the moral of the story is that I had my thoughts and mind set up on a belief because it sticks. Bullying will never change, and there will always be bullying around whether it is in the lords house, at school, throughout neighborhoods. There are many reasons to get bullied and one big example of it is this interview where i did interview a person who is going through the public schools, a person who is in the church, and a business who is just trying to strive to support themselves. I am a little surprised by this because just for a second, I thought bullying had restrictions and that it would not extend to this level but people are people and this is the effect of bullying. My mom just simply had to leave the nun worshiping and return home because that type of bullying defeated her and she could not out beat it.

Therefore, bullying is a form to express negative ideas whether it is verbal or physical. I still believe that being a foreigner or being different in any tribe will get you bullied because you are not the same and being different automatically makes you a target. What i learned from interviewing these people is that no matter the circumstance, bullying is a world wide issue and subconsciously it happens to anyone who is a target to get bullied. My opinion did not change because again I was bullied growing up and I know who gets bullied, the reasons to why people get bullied whether you work at Walmart or Publix, some person is getting bullied to some degree.

I believe entrepreneurs need to adapt to what customers need. As a person who is trying to sell a service, I need to make sure it is suitable for all these different types of people rather than just my type of people. I can target only my type of people but if I want any real success in my business idea, then I would need to target a larger audience thus being more flexible with my ideas. Entrepreneurs should always accommodate and adapt to modern world because everyday something new is coming out and businesses need to catch up.

Assignment 5

1) 9 Year old accused of stabbing 5 b year old sister

https://www.wcjb.com/content/news/OPD-investigation-stabbing-at--567339381.html

* A 9 year old stabbed his 5 year old sister because he was facing mental problems.
* The problem is that a 9 year old should be challenging mental health issues at such a young age.
* The nine year old had the problem and it was caused from his life whether it was the influence from his family, influence from the activities that he does and that has caused him to think that it is okay to stab his younger sister.

* It has been clear that it is illegal to drive with use of phone and citizens are now being ticketed if caught

3) Lane Ranger: Why are four lanes slower than two?
* 4 lanes are being watched more than two lanes and the design for four lanes are meant for more people to be on them and therefore it will not be faster in specific area
* The roads are under Florida department of transportation and therefore the speed will be based off of surroundings.
* Drivers are faced with these problems because in the article it states that many were getting pulled over and ticketed even though there is more space to go around.

My entrepreneur story

Throughout my life, I have been introduced to entrepreneurship in many ways. I have many stories to provide but I will recall one of my favorites stories to why entrepreneurship speaks to me. I came to America ten years ago, from Lebanon. My dad did not how to speak any English, we migrated to find a better life, receive better education and to be around our family members that have already migrated to the United States. My dad had to work his way up in this country without any handouts to protect and feed 6 members of his family. He was the only bread gainer in the household as my mom was making sure all our needs were taken care of at home. My dad had to go out in a completely foreign country and use his skills to earn money. My dad was an interior designer back home, and he had to start with what he already knew. My dad got involved with a few groups around Jacksonville and introduced himself to self made companies and he needed to speak English, and or minimum pay and it was not enough to my dad. My dad then started his own company remodeling houses because nothing else was working out for him and he needed to act fast to start earning money. My dad then made sure his job was up to par compared to the competition that he had. Fast forward three years later, my dad started hiring people under him because he sold himself enough to people to where he started getting jobs due to word of mouth. I think about this concept all the times because it took the entrepreneurship in my dad to go out of his comfort zone, start something new in his life, do the job correctly, and maintaining his reputation around town. That to me has made me feel that there was never an excuse to why we cannot meet a goal, or beat the odds that are ahead of us because there will always be a way and entrepreneurship explains that process with steps.

The main reason why I signed up for this course was because it was a requirement in my minor, but I did choose to take it before any other required class because the class description made me feel as if I was going to see those steps right on paper and that I was going to come out of this class with an idea, or a process to push my idea out to the real world.

My bug list

11   Paper straws. Why? Paper straws exist because we want to fully transition from plastic straws because they are harming our planet, but paper straws should not be the alternative. Paper straws get soggy.

2.2     Looking at my watch and not paying attention to the time. Why? I am usually thinking of something while I was looking at the time and I must re look and concentrate on what I looked at because I can’t think of two things at the same time.

3.3   Drivers on the road. Why? I feel like drivers are not punished enough for the ridiculous driving that they do on the road, and if we make laws that gives certifications every 5 or every 10 years then we can take away some license from people who do not know how to drive.

4.4   Traffic. Why? Traffic sucks because everyone is on the road and you have individuals that split lanes causing traffic to get backed up.

55   Peoples work ethics. You got people who want to work and people who do not want to work and when half of the population is grinding and the other half isn’t, it destabilizes society. Too many people around us already have everything and they don’t need to set goals, so it doesn’t allow them to get out of their comfort zone.

6.6  Flies. Why? They do not stop sucking on your blood and it creates this bump on your skin that get itchy. Due to the way your body smell, or where you are in the world, they will get to you.

7.7      Using public bathrooms and not having enough supplies. Why? The worker or whoever was responsible for the bathroom did not due their due diligence of keeping up with the bathroom and therefore now I must suffer cleaning myself without any toilet papers.

8.8      Unrealistic time micromanaged incorporation. Why? Companies do not want to hire more people to do equal work and therefore they throw double the work on one employee until they get tired and then they rehire someone else to continue doing the same unrealistic job that cannot be done within 8 hour days.

9.9      Fake friends. Why? People want their convenience and if you are inconveniencing friends, then they act wishy washy with you when they just do not know how to communicate to tell you that they do not want to do it.

10.   Instagram users that post more than once a day. Why? Now that social media is a big platform, people can have their ideas and opinions shared with the world and sometimes it is a little too much but they are my friends and I can’t follow them so when I see their posts by accident, I cringe.

11.Being stuck behind a bus. Why? You are looking at other vehicles pass by you while you are stuck behind a bus and it exists because the bus must stop and wait until everyone is safe and clear for the bus to move along.

112.   Buying too much food and throwing it away. Why? When I am hungry, I splurge buying food and then what I don’t eat is garbage because it doesn’t taste good later and I must throw away food I purchased.

113.   E-cigs being thrown on the ground more than cigarettes. Problem exists because we have this plastic device with batteries in it that is being thrown on the ground by drunk college students and they are more harmful to our planet than cigarettes being thrown on the ground.

114.   School. Why? School does not mean you are smarter than another person that did not go to school. It either makes you in this world or fails you and the issue exists because we do not spend enough funding on schools, and we do not care for our education system which is allowing us to grow as human beings. We are being failed from day one and it is up to you to figure out something that cannot be changed.

. 15   Being cold after the shower. Why? The problem exits because the ac is always on at the house and your body gets cold after coming out of the shower because the hot water is not hitting your body anymore.

116.  Tipping at restaurants. Why? Not everyone that goes out to eat wants to tip, and if so it’s this whole act of serving because we all know that tipping comes at the end.

117   Taxes. Having no control over government problem exists because the number of citizens who have input and wish to make legitimate impacts in the national decisions would completely outweigh the government officials and throw off the checks and balances system. Taxes are a problem because those that lead the country have lacked their ability to supply resources internally and had to outsource so much and pay so many other countries for their own resources so that we can thrive as a nation but these decisions to use other resources ultimately drives taxes, import fees, stress levels off the roofs just so the country can pay other civilizations back, but that’s only one part of the reason for tax because then you have all of these unemployed people, low income citizens etc. who also need resources so the government implements these SS taxes and income taxes to pay for living in poverty just to see doctors.

1 18 Commitment. Why? People change and when you once though this was all you needed, over time it isn’t all you needed and now you are sitting here committed to whatever it is, whether it is a color or a marriage and now you.

219.    Money being the center of life. Why? You can’t do anything in this world without earning money.

220  Everything in life is a competition. Why? Capitalism.

221   Asking for money. Because broke people are not responsible enough to sustain living with money, but it all connects to society, government, work ethics, where you are from, etc.

2 22   People who can only see things from their own perspective. Why? it is caused because it is one sided, you can’t argue with a person who is only seeing their argument from one side and it is biased, it is unfair and the reason for it is because people are uncultured, uneducated and being ignorant is easy.

Reflection
I am an entrepreneur myself. I have found my niche into dj and creating my own platform in Jacksonville, Florida. Unlike other mixers, I have gotten myself into my international community and took that opportunity to grow from there. I am well respected around Jacksonville and I am known for my great mixing skills, performance on stage etc.  Aside from my side little business, I work at a law firm. I am in school; I am a leader in my choir at church. I have been through many troubles, and I have experienced hardships moving to America at the age of 11. But all these different experiences has made me the person I am and therefore I believe that I have always looked at the world in a perspective to where I really have always wanted to find solutions to the problems that I have. I hate having a dishwasher and dryer, why can’t we have both? You know? So this is my reflective statement and I believe that every human should be looking at the world in this manner because essentially it makes us leaders and we always need leaders.
